1) Getting Started

You need to analyse your users before you begin optimizing your site for mobile. Here are the steps to help you decide if you need to optimize for mobile:

  • Establish whether more than 20% of your users are visiting your site on their mobile. If there are more than 20% then you need to optimize your site for mobile.
  • Consider whether or not your website has new content regularly or sells products. If it does you need to optimize your site for mobile.

2) Site Speed

The speed at which your mobile site loads on a device will effect the level of success your business is on mobile. You need to test your mobile site for not just WIFI speed but also multiple Internet connections to understand what your user is undergoing. If your site is loading slowly you may choose to redesign the page to help increase the load time.

3) Different Devices

It is hard to optimize your mobile website for all of your users because, chances are, they all have different types of devices. You do, however, need to understand which device most of your users are using and prioritize based on this. If you understand that most of your users are visiting your website on an iPhone or Android, you can make sure your prioritize optimizing for these users first.

4) What works on desktop may not work on mobile

There are many features of your website on desktop that may not transfer to mobile efficiently and this may deter your users from revisiting your site. For example, you may have a form that your users has to complete to finish a purchase on your desktop website. This form will need to be simplified to work on a mobile experience - don't just expect the journey to be the same for a user on mobile as it is on desktop. A/B testing is a great solution to help you establish what is working and what isn't.

5) Location Information

Mobile offers you a multitude of new ways to reach your audience in a unique way and using information on each user, such as location tracking, can help you to personalize their experience. Using this tool creatively will help to surprise your customers. For example, you could remarket a product that a users has looked at on your website by notifying them of a store near by with the product in stock.

Mobile is going to continue to evolve and develop - keeping your business up to date on mobile is very important to your overall success. Need help with your business website? Hire a company for web design in Dubai today.
