Alexander Rauser, CEO of Prototype Interactive, said geo-targeting also gives companies the option of spreading their message worldwide given tools that place UAE ads, for example, on websites around the globe. “This means if I am in the UAE and read news on a website in the US, a banner that is relevant to me could be shown,” Rauser said. “One way this works is that such websites are connected to an advertising network. The website detects where the user is coming based on their IP address and then takes a banner for that location from a large pool of inventory.”
