Prototype has recently been asked what are the top Digital Media trends to watch and here is our list:

Content Curation

Whoop, whoop, who would have thought of content But seriously, with new sites like Pinterest.com taking off like a rocket it shows that content discovery and sharing should become a very important part of your strategy. Content curation then means to discover, aggregate and share content that is relevant to a specific subject matter and for marketers there are different ways to get involved: either by creating content that is unique and sharable or gathering and curating content yourself. The more relevant, up to date and unique your content is the more people you can reach and have the opportunity to transport your brand messages and products.

   Location based marketing

Still a bit new to the region we believe this could become very relevant very soon. Especially with new startups such as yadig.com providing more relevant location based information about venues this could be a trend to watch and a good opportunity for first movers.

   Gamification

We believe Gamification is something worth watching too. Gamification means to apply game like mechanics to situations that are not really a game. This means you turn your objectives into a game design where you allow users to collect points, badges and compete with each other. Think of asking users to read, share or involving your products or brand in virtual and physical transactions in order to obtain rewards.

   QR Codes

While this one is not that new we believe we will see more and more QR code campaigns and integrated mobile campaigns in the future. There is also a lot of potential to make the QR Code destinations more interactive and engaging considering the wider adaptation of HTML5 support on mobile devices.

All in all we believe it's about cross channel digital marketing and utilizing the right tools available to get the most out of your digital marketing campaign.
